The flow in ducts is related to boundary layer issues.
For a high Reynolds number, the assumption of an uniform flow in the
duct is closer to reality.
It is normal to have a large Mach number with a large Re number.
In that case, the assumptions in construction of these models are
acceptable and reasonable.
